Modems Direct Review:
As you can see the DSL Modem is very small so it can fit just about anywhere around your Computer set up. I Simply installed the Zoom Install CD, then plugged in the USB cable from the Modem into a * Free USB port on the PC and Windows acknowledged the Modem is now a USB Device in the system. I also plugged in the my DSL line that looks like a regular telephone line but it has the High Frequency DSL signal on it coming from a MicroFilter**. Then I opened the Zoom Utility and Entered the VPI and VCI info for the DSL service I was connecting to. This happened to be BellSouth so I entered VPI=8 and VCI=35. Then I Entered my account info and password into the Login box. Then clicked on the Zoom Logo in the System tray and the Modem logged into the DSL Network. Took less than 5 minutes. When the Computer Boots it automatically logs into the DSL Network so the system is always online.
NEW exclusive feature available in units shipping 1st week of April - VEnet (Virtual Ethernet for USB)
VEnet - Virtual Ethernet provides the stability of Ethernet with the cost and convenience of a USB modem
* Although not always necessary I recommend for all PC users to use a Powered USB Hub for all their USB devices. Sometimes a PC just cannot supply adequate power for all of the Devices due to variations of the PC Power Supply and Motherboards supplying the power to the USB Ports. Just my observation on many occasions, this is an example, I've seen a scanner not work when plugged directly into the PC USB port and when plugged a Powered USB Hub to that very same PC Port and then plugged the Scanner into the Powered USB Hub it worked perfectly fine.
** You can get DSL Line Filters from many locations such as Radio Shack
